The concept of sustainable local waterways is one that’s close to Chris’s heart.

She helped the Auckland Regional Council’s co-ordinator to develop the logo and subsequent educational resources, annual reports, newsletters and display material for Wai Care.

Eight years on the programme has been enormously successful in enlisting the support of communities to rejuvenate and maintain streams and creeks suffering from pollution.

Parent of a son at the local Westmere (primary) school, Chris heeded the call for volunteers to help run its biennial music festival fundraiser.

As is so often the case, the “small graphics job” turned out to be something far bigger, designing the event logo and then working it into T-shirts, email newsletter banners, signage, brochures, posters and the programme.

Her involvement helped the school double its return on the previous event.

Kebab Kid was established by a group of young entrepreneurs who wanted to develop a healthy take-away food alternative.

It was all hands to the pump with this small startup company which didn’t have a marketing manager.

Chris helped them raise the profile of their brand, developing the concept into a three store franchise.

This event management company is like its clients; fit, edgy, going hard out.

Chris’s challenge was to capture that spirit, while incorporating different sponsor’s logos into brochures and point of sale material for each event.

In a unique extension of her work, Chris’s design concept was extended to a medallion for the winner of The Legend race, a competition for those following in the footsteps of distance running great, Arthur Lydiard.

Amid concern about the soul less development of Manukau, the City Council commissioned a “sense of place” document.

Chris worked with management consultant Jillian de Beer, to propose a palette of colours, textures and designs which reflected the ethnic and economic diversity of the region.

The challenge was to develop a user-friendly document for council staff which translated creative, academic notions into a workable template for developers, builders and architects.

Chris worked for Household Linens for about four years, building the brand as the company grew from one store to three.

She worked with the owner and marketing manager to develop the brand and design consistent catalogues, brochures, labels and point of sale material.

She was particularly successful in helping to establish a new seasonal campaign for linen in the same way as it exists for clothing.
